Traditional Camp-Ages 6-12 (this age by the end of 2020)
Our traditional camps are now all "choose your own" activity based. Each week, campers will get a selection of our traditional camp programs like canoeing, kayaking, arts and crafts, swimming, archery, high ropes and more. Every day, campers will choose what programs they want to participate in to ensure they get exactly what they are looking for and what they enjoy! In addition to our traditional activities, campers will have the opportunity to participate in other camp classics like Paint your Counsellor, Slip and Slide, Pirate Ships and Cooch Games. The adventure never ends!
This traditional program has our full age range however we will ensure that younger campers do things with younger campers and older with older as programming allows.
In addition to the program delivery, Camp Couchiching helps campers develop experience and skills to foster inclusive and positive relationships.
Specialty Programs- Ages 8-12 (this age by the end of 2020)
For our "older" campers who are seeking a more specialized focused in their camp stay our Specialty Programs are perfect. Mixed in with daily activities tailored to the week’s theme campers will also experience free swims, quick picks and many of the other great things that Camp Couchiching has to offer! These programs all cost the same as the Traditional Programs however they have limited space and fill up quickly.
Culinary- Campers with a taste for cooking will love this camp. Each day, campers will learn to follow recipes & food management techniques. Most days, parts of their edible projects will come home with them at the end of the day so your family can taste the results! We can accommodate basic dietary considerations in this program (e.g. nut/peanut free, gluten allergies/intolerances, vegan, vegetarian) however complex dietary restrictions may be more difficult to support.
Magic Camp-In partnership with magician James Harrison (pickpocketmagic.com) campers will learn amazing magic tricks, watch live magic and enjoy traditional camp activities! Mornings will be spent working with James learning magic while afternoons will be spent enjoying all that Camp Couchiching has to offer.
Paddle Sports-What better way is there to spend your summer days out on the water? Perfect for paddling enthusiast campers will get the opportunity to kayak, canoe and stand up paddle board in addition to participating in our traditional camp activities. Improve your paddling stroke, learn the basics of steering a boat and have fun out in boats!
Adventure-A favourite activity at Camp is the high ropes course and our newly expanded climbing wall. This theme week is paired with shelter building, survival, archery and fire building too. This is a great program for campers who are thrill seekers and like safe risk taking!
Spy Camp-Crack Codes and Challenges through out the week. Campers will be working together to learn new skills around camp and retrieving clues by completing challenges. They will help design a new escape room for camp and will participate in some traditional camp programs as well.
Digging Up Science-This camp takes a whole new approach on hands on learning. Campers will be partaking in and designing their own STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math) experiments. Being the leaders in learning but also having fun in the process. We will mix in a few outdoor gardening activities to see all different views of the beauty of science. And through out the week will participate in some traditional camp activities as well to make sure campers get a well rounded camp experience.
