FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
ABOUT SUMMER DAY CAMP

WHAT ARE THE HOURS OF DAY CAMP?

The hours of our program are 9:15 a.m. until 4:45 p.m. daily.

Families can drop off at our Hub between 8:45 - 9:00 a.m. and pick up between 4:45 - 5:00 p.m.

Choosing the subsidized bus option will extend your campers' day. Please see transportation section below.

HOW DO WE APPLY? CAN WE CANCEL?

We use an online Camp Application database called CampBrain. Please click the link at the bottom of these questions.

Families apply to Camp, we review your application and convert it into a registration if everything is suitable.

Families can cancel with a full refund, less a $60/week/person administrative fee, any time before the pay in full date of Wednesday May 27, 2026. After that date, there is no refund for any reason.

ARE THERE CAMPERSHIPS (FINANCIAL SUBSIDY)?

Every year we do have some donated dollars that help offset families who need some financial assistance. Subsidy is limited but can cover program and bus fees.

If you are applying for subsidy for your family, you do not have to pay any deposit.

We also ask those people who can donate towards this fund to do so.

FAMILY INFORMATION PACKAGE

This is Camp Couchiching's Package for everything you will need to know: timing, what to bring/wear, procedures, contact details, etc. We update this package for the current summer in June each year.

WHAT DOES MY CAMPER BRING EACH DAY?

We will provide a full list of things to bring in our June Family Information Package.

Typical items include:

  • Hat

  • Water bottle

  • Back pack

Don't forget that we provide snacks and a lunch!

WHAT LAND BASED PROGRAMS WILL MY CAMPER DO?

Our nature based programming is off-set by lots of other recreational programming like:

  • Climbing Wall

  • Arts & Crafts

  • Archery

  • Rock Throwing

  • Drama

  • Outdoor Living Skills

  • Sports

  • High & Low Ropes Courses

WHAT WATER BASED ACTIVITIES WILL MY CAMPER DO?

Campers do a swim assessment on the first day. This allows us to know each person's comfort in the water.

Beach Parties are a part of everyday.

Other days will find our campers at canoe, kayaking or stand up paddleboarding.

If we have the staff to lead it, we also may take our older campers on some sailboat rides.

MY CAMPER IS TOO YOUNG OR OLD. HOW DO WE GET IN?

Youth who are within our stated age range of 6-12 years of age in the calendar year of 2026 will have first priority for our limited camper program spots with the exception of space in the week of Aug 17-21 for campers aged 5-13 in the calendar year of 2026.

If you apply using the wrong date of birth in order to "sneak" your kiddo in then we will cancel your application.

Persons outside of these age parameters, wishing to attend dates that aren't Aug 17-21, will be assessed in late March if there are still spaces open. Please email info@campcouchiching.com to get on this list.

WHAT IS THE BUS LIKE?

If your family choose our subsidized & supervised bus to/from Orillia then the bus leaves for Camp at 9 a.m. (drop off at the bus stop anytime after 8:45 a.m.) and returns from Camp at 5:00-5:20 p.m.

The bus costs Camp about $38-$52/person depending how many people sign up. We charge $20/person for the week regardless of how often your camper takes the bus.

Bus cancellations for the full week are available in full on/before May 27, 2026. After that date, only 50% will be refunded. There are no discounts or refunds for partial use.

Our bus stop location will be confirmed in June as we aren't able to secure our permit yet however, we are trying to get our permit for Orillia Secondary School, at 250 Collegiate Drive.

WHAT IS THE AUG 20 OVERNIGHT?

For campers who are registered for the week of August 17-21, we have a special "add on" for campers to stay overnight at Camp from Thursday August 20- Friday August 21 if they are aged 7-12 by or on December 31, 2026.

At the end of the Camp day on August 20, Campers will stay in Camp to play games, do activities, set up themselves in our overnight camper cabins and have supper in the dining hall. After a campfire and snack they'll head to the cabins for their sleep over.

Our trained and qualified staff stay in the same cabin as the campers.

Our overnight cabins have toilets, running water, electricity and bunk beds.

The next morning, the campers awake then have breakfast in our dining hall before joining day camp again.

CAMP MERCH

We love seeing our campers out in the community wearing or sporting our merchandise.

An online store will open up for a month in May or June then clothes get delivered to Camp for free or to your home for a charge.

We will email the families to launch the clothing store!

ARE THERE ANY DISCOUNTS FOR SIBLINGS?

There are some discounts available after the first camper from the same home applies.

For your 2nd, 3rd, 4th (?!) camper who applies, you will receive a discount of $10/person.
