FOREST SCHOOL PROGRAMS
With the Camp Couchiching Learning Centre

JUNIOR ADVENTURERS

The Junior Adventurers will spend the day learning and playing outside at the 20 acres of camp property at Camp Couchiching with access to an indoor space at the Community Hub designed as a nature-inspired classroom. The program is designed for students to learn together by exploring their surroundings, while engaging in play-based and experiential learning. Age-appropriate learning connections will be made to the Ontario curriculum as they emerge from their daily adventures exploring the natural spaces and playing with natural materials and loose parts.

  • For students born in 2017 - 2019 (4 - 6 Years Old)

  • 8:30 AM - 5 PM on Wednesdays

  • Program Dates: 

    • Late Fall 1: October 25 - November 15,  $248

    • Late Fall 2: November 22 - December 13, $248

    • Winter: January 17 - February 28, $434

    • Early Spring: March 27 - May 1, $372

Special Note: *Junior Adventurers must be fully toilet trained (can be completely independent in the washroom, including wiping) prior to the Program start date. In case of an accident, the Educators will help them. However, the student should be confident in their ability to make it to a washroom. The Camp Couchiching Learning Centre cannot accept students that are wearing diapers.   

FOREST ADVENTURERS

The Forest Adventurers students will spend every Thursday learning, exploring and making connections while exploring the 20-acre Camp Couchiching Property and the nature-inspired indoor classroom at the Community Hub. Students will be encouraged to explore, ask questions, problem-solve, be challenged by the natural spaces, free-play and engage in sensory discovery.  Age-appropriate learning connections will be made to the Ontario curriculum as they emerge from their daily adventures and experiences.

  • For students aged 6 - 9 Years Old

  • 8:30 AM - 5 PM on Thursdays

  • Program Dates:

    • Late Fall 1: October 26 - November 16,  $248 

    • Late Fall 2: November 23 - December 14, $248

    • Winter: January 18 - February 29, $434

    • Early Spring: March 28 - May 2, $372

ADVENTURE CREW
A new once a month program!

The Adventure Crew will spend one Friday a month taking their learning outside for the day. This once-a-month program is designed to deepen children's learning experiences through positive, engaging and exciting experiences and is a complement to traditional learning. Students will spend the day bringing their classroom learning to life with experiential and outdoor experiences on the 20-acre Camp Couchiching Property and in the nature-inspired classroom at the Community Hub. This older range of students will be challenged to learn from the natural spaces while developing critical thinking and problem solving skills, boosting their mental and physical wellness, honing social skills and improving their ability to work cooperatively. Age-appropriate learning connections will be made to the Ontario curriculum by our staff as they emerge from their daily adventures and experiences.

  • For students born in 2011 - 2015 (8 - 12 Years Old)

  • 8:30 AM - 5 PM

  • Program Dates: 1 Friday/Month 

    • Late Fall: October 27, November 24, December 15, $186

    • Winter - Spring  (2 of these days (bolded) are also PA Days for the SCDSB): January 26, February 23, $372 

MINI ADVENTURERS

We have a TON of fun at this program! Mini-Adventurers is a half day program with a variety of self-guided and guided program options. Mid-way through the program the Educators host an interactive story time and campfire (a great time to have a big snack!). We ask for one adult to accompany your curious Mini Adventurer(s) as they explore sections of the camp with program options tailored to their age and stage of learning. We believe that positive interactions with nature in their early years of life can open a lifelong relationship with the natural world.

  • For Adventurers born 2018 - 2022 (1-5 Years Old) and 1 Adult

  • 9 AM - 12 PM on Fridays

  • Start Dates: 1 Friday/Month

    • Late Fall: November 3, December 1, $52

    • Winter - Spring: January 19, February 2, March 1, April 5, May 3, June 14, $156
